Vinatzer’s revolutionary naming system on EurekAlert’s most trafficked releases of 2014

As 2014 came to a close, EurekAlert! announced their top 10 most trafficked news releases that appeared on their site in the last twelve months. One of our college’s news releases about Boris Vinatzer, Virginia Tech scientist proposes revolutionary naming system for all life on Earth, posted on Feb. 21, 2014, was number three on the list!

EurekAlert! is an online, global news service operated by AAAS, the science society. EurekAlert! provides a searchable database through which universities, medical centers, journals, government agencies, corporations, and other organizations engaged in research can bring their news to the media.

Congratulations to all involved!

Conversations: Enhancing 2-Way Communication VCE Blog

The idea for this new blog, Conversations, came from work of the Central District Program Leadership Team. In identifying program training needs in their district, they discovered some issues that didn’t really relate directly to subject matter programming but nonetheless are important and need to be addressed (i.e., work/life balance and office/field time balance). So we, the state staff, developed this blog to promote two-way communications to talk about these issues.

Our first post was on generational diversity in VCE. We will be posting periodically and encourage you to comment (just click on “Leave a reply”) at the bottom of the post. You may comment anonymously, but we would encourage you to tell us who you are. You can also suggest additional topics either in comments or by emailing Mike Lambur.

The easiest way to grow your social media presence, connect with others

Do you want to reach more people through social media?

Simply like the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Virginia Cooperative Extension social media sites. We would love to share your news and information, but we can’t if we aren’t connected. If we can share your tweets, pins, posts, and status updates, we can drive more people to your sites. In turn, you will also be able to share our content, helping us to reach more people too.

Get connected today!
