Family and Consumer Science leadership changes

We have had recent changes in the leadership for our Family and Consumer Sciences programs. Karen DeBord has retired, again. We appreciate her serving in the interim role. She did so willingly following the retirement of our Associate Director and FCS Program Leader Brian Calhoun. I hope all of you will take the opportunity to thank Karen, and we hope to recognize her publicly at some appropriate occasion.

With Karen’s retirement, I have asked Crystal Tyler-Mackey to provide interim leadership for FCS and for Eric Bowen to take leadership for the National Health Outreach Conference. Please give these folks your support as we continue to move forward.

The state leadership team is currently evaluating the administrative team structure in light of the creation of our program teams. We desire very strongly to be efficient and provide the programmatic leadership to effectively move Virginia Cooperative Extension forward in all of our program areas.

Thank you,

Ed Jones
Director, Virginia Cooperative Extension
