The Chesterfield County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension will be participating in National Pollinator Week by hosting our third annual Bumblebee Jamboree at Maymont Park on June 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bumblebee Jamboree is a family-friendly event which aims to educate residents of the Greater Richmond Area on the importance of pollinators to our daily lives and what each of us can do in our own backyards to protect these natural resources.
The event will include educational displays and activities for both adults and children. Puppet shows, games, storytelling, crafts will keep the little ones engaged and excited to learn. Information on plant selections for the garden, a live honey bee demonstration hive (enclosed), tours through the butterfly garden, and a sampling station of pollinator-dependent foods will be offered for the adults. We’ll also have a butterfly safari tent that all ages will enjoy visiting.
