Graduate Teaching Scholars Program applications due March 7

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has the opportunity to nominate doctoral candidates for Graduate Teaching Scholars positions. Nominees may be either graduate applicants wishing to join a Ph.D. program in CALS or students who are already enrolled and are in the early stage of a Ph.D. program in the college. Candidates who are already enrolled in a Ph.D. program should be at least two years from completion of their Ph.D. program at the time their position would begin, allowing the applicant the opportunity to fully participate in the various teaching preparatory components of the program.

Nominations must include the following materials:

  1. A cover page with appropriate signatures.
  2. A current curriculum vita.
  3. A 2-page personal statement that specifically addresses the candidate’s interests in, and goals for, an academic career with an emphasis on teaching.
  4. Two reference letters from faculty members that specifically address the potential of the candidate to succeed as a classroom educator and future academician. For students presently enrolled at VT, one of these faculty should be the student’s advisor who should indicate in her/his letter the expected graduation date of the student.

Please submit all materials, as one pdf document, to Anna Taylor.
